Raimond II R61 pendant, dimmable

Moooi’s Raimond II R61 pendant brings the unique beauty of a starry night into your home. Designed by mathematician Raimond Puts, the suspension light consists of a perfectly round steel net lit with a multitude of tiny LED bulbs that resemble stars twinkling in a night sky. Create the perfect atmosphere in your home with the dimmable Raimond pendant or combine several pendants to form a whole constellation reminiscent of fireworks lighting up the sky.

Raimond Puts's inspiration for the Raimond lighting collection was the geodesic dome, a hemispherical construction consisting of triangular elements. Developed by American architect Buckminster Fuller in the 1940s, the geodome has been applied to buildings like greenhouses and glass igloos, for example – but Puts envisioned it as a luminaire. It took Puts almost 40 years to develop the lamp design, conducting endless research and building numerous prototypes until, in 2009, the collection's first luminaires were ready to be introduced to the world. As a mathematician, Puts was also fascinated with prime numbers and decided to give all Raimond lights diameters that were based on a specific prime number (like 61, for example).

In 2021, the Raimond pendant was updated with new dimming possibilities and more efficient LED lights, allowing the luminaire to shine even brighter. The modernised version was given the rather regal name Raimond II.

Raimond Puts

Moooi, founded in 2001 by Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers, produces fun, daring and innovative furniture and lighting. Named after the word ”mooi”, Dutch for beautiful, Moooi wants to give room for designers to create attractive, unique conversation pieces that make any environment interesting. The name’s extra ’o’ was added to highlight the unique beauty that lies within all Moooi products.
