Chair 615, rattan

Artek’s Chair 615 was designed by Aino Aalto in 1939. Any well-designed vintage pieces, like old 615 chairs, have also proven their quality. Vintage dining chairs bring character to your dining room – with echoes from the past. 

Chair 615 has either solid birch or oak frame with a rattan seat, giving it a natural character. Chair 615 has a narrower frame and slightly higher seat than the traditional chair 611 designed by Alvar Aalto, which makes it an excellent dining chair or side chair in both private and public contexts. The clear, relaxed and functional appearance of the chair makes it a great fit also in modern interiors.

Aino Aalto

Artek was founded in 1935 by four young idealists – Alvar and Aino Aalto, Nils-Gustav Hahl and Maire Gullichsen published a design manifesto inspired by functionalism, stating that Artek’s aim was “to sell furniture and to promote modern culture of habitation by exhibitions and other means”. Since its foundation, Artek has played in the intersection of design, architecture, and art, making Finnish design and Alvar Aalto's furniture known all over the world.
