Stretch bench, 160 cm, UV-lacquered pine

Normann Copenhagen’s Stretch bench is a pared-back and versatile piece of furniture designed by Simon Legald, with a sturdy presence rooted in its material: the bench is made from thick pine planks. The knots, grain patterns and other natural characteristics of the pine surface are left honestly visible rather than hidden, forming an essential part of Stretch’s character. Instead of a painted finish, the Stretch bench is treated with a UV matt lacquer that allows the natural beauty of the wood to show. Over time, the pine will develop a patina and gradually take on a beautiful honey-toned hue.

The Stretch bench has a robust, practical and effortlessly homely expression. It combines a modern minimalist form with the traditional, rustic feel of wood in a way that suits a wide range of spaces. The bench works naturally in a hallway, at a dining table, at the end of a bed or as extra seating in the living room, as well as, when needed, a long side surface for books, plants or other beautiful objects around the home.
