Moomin chair, small

The Moomin chair, designed by Yrjö Kukkapuro, celebrates Tove Jansson’s lovable Moomin characters’ 75th anniversary. Showcasing Jansson’s iconic artwork, the Moomin chair features an illustration from the Moomin book “The Book about Moomin, Mymble and Little My”. The small version is suitable for children aged two to six years.

Yrjö Kukkapuro designed the chair model in 1998 with the intent to showcase the work of different artists and illustrators. Today, it serves as the perfect canvas for highlighting delightful Moominvalley favourites. Made of certified birch plywood with a laminated coating that withstands wear, the Moomin chair is an ideal choice for play, around low tables or as independent pieces. Awarded the Key Flag certificate, the Moomin chair is produced in Finland.

Yrjö Kukkapuro

Yrjö Kukkapuro (1933–2025) was one of the most prominent names in Finnish furniture design. Having begun his career as early as the 1950s, Kukkapuro always aimed for a seamless combination of aesthetics and functionality, regardless of whether he was working on more artistic project or something entirely practical, such as an office chair collection. User experience and ergonomics were central to his design work: “Does it make any sense to design a chair which is not good to sit on?” he often said. During his long career, Kukkapuro designed numerous pieces of furniture that have become sought-after design classics, such as the iconic Remmi series and the Ateljee armchair and sofa.
