Kilta platter and rattan frame, black

Arabia's Kilta platter and rattan frame were designed by Kaj Franck. The beautiful rattan frame creates a charming vintage appearance for the dish, and it is also a practical addition for serving.

The Kilta series was originally designed to be as versatile as possible. Franck’s idea was that the Kilta pieces could be freely used together and in different colour combinations. The original colours of the series were green, yellow, blue, black, and brown. The green Kilta sauce boat with a handle is sure to charm any table setting. 

The Kilta series was introduced to the world in 1952 and over the years it became to be an admired series both in Finland as well as abroad. The series is based on familiar and basic shapes – a circle, a square and a rectangle. The simple set of dishes was a speciality of its time - the versatile parts were easy to combine, and they could also be purchased individually. The production of the Kilta series stopped momentarily in 1975 and later in 1981, it returned to production. However, some changes were made to the proportions of the dishes, and also the material used changed from faience to stoneware. Due to the changes made, Kaj Franck wanted to change the name of the series as well and it was renamed Teema. Teema is one of the most highly appreciated Scandinavian collections, an undisputed classic that can be found in many design museums worldwide.
