Kievari shot glass, green

The Kievari shot glass by Humppilan Lasi was designed by Matti Halme in the 1970s. The design language of the drinking glass is created by a green base that merges with clear glass. Made from mould-blown glass, the Kievari schnapps glass is suitable for celebratory moments or even for morning ginger shots.

The Kievari glass series was produced by Humppila glass between 1972 and 1977. The series includes drinking glasses in various sizes in brown and green tones.

Humppila Glass is a Finnish glass factory in Humppila that started its operations in 1952. The Humppila glass factory was founded by the brothers Olavi, Martti, and Jonni Helander, who were formerly employed by Nuutajärvi Glassworks. The glass factory, which was housed in an old barn, produced both art glass and everyday glassware. At the time, Humppila Glass employed approximately 20–25 people. 
 
When the 1960s came, the techniques of glass manufacturing developed, and Humppila Glass was not able to compete with larger glass manufacturers, so the focus shifted more and more towards the production of art glass. By 1970, the challenging financial situation forced the company to file for bankruptcy. However, Humppilan Glass got a new opportunity when businessman Rolf Alander bought the company and built a new factory building, where operations started again in 1971. The 1970s were a successful time for Humppila Glass, when it produced up to 11.5% of the everyday glassware and art glass produced in Finland. 
 
In 1986, the Humppila glass factory and its business operations were bought by Wärtsilä. During the ownership of Wärtsilä, the warehouse and production facilities were converted into specialised boutiques and gift shops. At the end of the 1980s, the ownership changed again, and by 1994, all glassware was manufactured under the name of Iittala. Industrial glass manufacturing ended at the Humppila glass factory in 2008.
