J80 chair, soaped beech - paper cord

FDB Møbler’s J80 chair, designed by Jørgen Bækmark, is an attractive wooden spindle back chair from the 1950s. Featuring an angular frame with a distinctive, rounded back, this solid beech chair is one of the icons of mid-century Danish design. A paper yarn seat complements the natural look of the chair, and its functional form serves many different styles and spaces. The J80 chair shares a similar appearance and materials with other chairs, benches and stools of the J80 collection. Please note that soap-treated beech will develop a patina after use and time, only becoming more beautiful and luxurious over the years.

Danish FDB Møbler is strongly rooted in the icons of Danish furniture design. FDB, the Danish Consumers’ Co-operative Society, was founded in 1940 to produce functionalist and democratic design for ordinary people – thanks to the new industrial production, FDB could manufacture high-quality furniture at low prices. During the next decades, designers such as Børge Mogensen and Poul M. Volther created numerous timeless pieces of Danish furniture design. FDB closed its factory in 1980, but in 2013 the Danish Coop launched FDB Møbler and started re-releasing some of the most beloved products of the mid-century Danish design. In addition to the classics, FDB Møbler creates new furniture inspired by the old collections.
