Tynell A1972 pendant, 60 cm, brass - bamboo

GUBI’s Tynell A1972 pendant lamp is part of Paavo Tynell’s lighting collection featuring conical lampshades and characterful natural materials, both typical of the designer. This lamp features a handcrafted bamboo slat shade that glows with warm tones, slightly wider than the smaller 1967 models in the series. Positioned below the light source, a fabric diffuser ensures a gentle, glare-free downward illumination, making the pendant ideal for various spaces, from a dining table to a bedroom ceiling or as a general light source in any room. The polished brass canopy adds a decorative touch to the design. The A1972 lamp is equipped with a clever counterweight mechanism, allowing you to easily adjust the hanging height as needed.

Originally designed in the 1950s and produced by the Finnish company Oy Taito Ab, the A1972 lamp is now part of the Paavo Tynell collection under the Danish design brand GUBI.

Gubi Olsen and his wife Lisbeth Olsen founded GUBI in 1967. The company has been based since the beginning on product design and development. Over the years, the two designers have created a large collection of upholstered furniture and a furniture fabric, called Holmens Klæde.

Since 1967, GUBI’s core philosophy has been to create timeless designs, with aesthetics, innovation, functionality and quality as guiding principles. GUBI’s many new designs are developed partly in cooperation with designers who have previously left their mark on GUBI products and partly in association with a number of new designers who, in turn, will add new stories to the GUBI saga.
