Lapuan Kankurit’s Kotona blanket is adorned with a pattern where two different tones form a harmonious yet distinctive pair. The wool throw is part of the Tones of Modernism Collection, a collaboration between Finnish Design Shop and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, with its palette drawing inspiration from the paintings in Seeing Silence: The Paintings of Helene Schjerfbeck, on-view at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York from December 5, 2025, through April 5, 2026. The subtle tones echo Schjerfbeck’s quietly radical expression, her delicate use of colors, and her pioneering role in Finnish modernist art.

Soft and pleasant against the skin, the Kotona blanket is made from Finnsheep wool sourced from carefully certified suppliers. The material makes the throw naturally breathable, luxuriously warm, and a long-lasting companion for cool summer evenings on the terrace as well as quiet reading moments on the sofa. The wool blanket is woven at Lapuan Kankurit’s own weaving mill in Ostrobothnia, Finland. 

Lapuan Kankurit – whose name means “Weavers of Lapua” – is a Finnish weaving mill specialising in linen and wool products. The brand creates versatile interior and table textiles, as well as bath and sauna products, crafted from genuine natural materials. Inspiration for the textiles comes from the purity and rugged beauty of northern nature, with both Finnish and international textile artists contributing to the designs.
