Kilta Vip chair, black leather

The Vip chair is part of the Kilta collection. It was designed as an executive chair and a chair for the large conference rooms. The good design of its backrest and the spaciousness of the seating area guarantee comfortable seating comfort.

The Kilta chair has been in Martela's collection since 1955. The structure of the chair was originally made of wood and it was created as a basic chair in the office. Thanks to its innovative manufacturing technology, the chair was made of polystyrene in 1958, when the Kilta chair designed by Olli Mannermaa became Finland's first plastic chair. The name Kilta dates back to the chair's first location, Kauppakilta, a restaurant based in Helsinki. The Kilta chair represented a new design in the 1950s and its sleek curved shape was a new and charming breeze to mechanically looking office chairs. The timeless and comfortable chair is a design classic and it is still popular today. Kilta chair is also wanted as a vintage product for its good quality and durability.

Olli Mannermaa

Matti Martela established the office furniture manufacturer Tehokaluste Oy, now known as Martela, together with his business partners in 1945. Martela's story initially started with individual office furniture such as work desks and office chairs, but gradually the company's operations started to focus also on workstations, design services and creating conditions that support wellbeing at work.
