Gaissa on-the-rocks

Iittala's Gaissa on-the-rocks glass is part of the elegant glassware series designed by Tapio Wirkkala in the early 1970s. The strong characteristic, the rocky and icy bottom of the Gaissa glass is accentuated especially when a drink is being poured into the glass. The Gaissa glass will elevate any table setting from fancy dinner parties to a more casual breakfast set up.

The collection, manufactured by Iittala, got its name from the word Gaissa, which refers to a high mountain occupied by eternal ice. Wirkkala is said to have made the glass moulds for the collection himself. In addition to the on-the-rocks glasses, the mould-blown glass series includes also cocktail glasses, cordial glasses, beer glasses, tumblers, an ice bucket, a pitcher and a decanter.
