Fauna wine glass, clear

The Fauna wine glass made by Nuutajärvi Glassworks is part of the Fauna glass series designed by Oiva Toikka in 1970. The embossed animal reliefs of the Fauna series add a striking detail to any table setting. The clear Fauna wine glass can be used as an eye-catching flower vase too. 

The mould-blown Fauna series was made from clear, green, blue, brown and violet glass. The glassware series includes a pedestal bowl, a tumbler, a punch bowl, a punch mug, a dessert bowl, a shot glass, a wine glass, a beer glass, a pitcher, a creamer, a sugar bowl and plates of various sizes. The popular utility glass series was produced by Nuutajärvi Glassworks from 1970 to 1984.

Oiva Toikka

Nuutajärvi Glassworks was established in Urjala in 1793, and until 2014 it was the oldest glass factory still operating in Finland. The Nuutajärvi glass factory area is nowadays listed among the nationally important built cultural environments by The National Board of Antiquities. During its long history, Nuutajärvi Glassworks manufactured everything from window glass to design glass.

Kaj Franck was the longest-running artistic director of the Nuutajärvi Glassworks between 1951 and 1973. The glass factory also employed several other well-known Finnish glass designers such as Gunnel Nyman, Saara Hopea, Oiva Toikka, Heikki Orvola and Kerttu Nurminen. Independent glass designers and artists still work and manufacture glass objects at the Nuutajärvi glass factory area. The Nuutajärvi Glass Museum Prykäri, designed by Kaj Franck, also locates in the area.
