GUBI’s Croissant sofa is by midcentury Danish architect and designer Ilum Wikkelsø, who believed that the furniture was made to last, indulge the body as well as please the eye. Originally designed in 1962, the Croissant represents a more playful and relaxed take on the traditional Chesterfield-style furniture.

The personal and distinctive shape, inspired by French pastry, reflects the designer’s ingenuity and sense of humour. The solid wood frame and soft plush seating of the furniture ensure a comfortable stay no matter the angle at which you sit. The hand-stitched Croissant sofa makes a beautiful and sculptural statement alone or works well together with the Croissant lounge chairs from the same series.

Gubi Olsen and his wife Lisbeth Olsen founded GUBI in 1967. The company has been based since the beginning on product design and development. Over the years, the two designers have created a large collection of upholstered furniture and a furniture fabric, called Holmens Klæde.

Since 1967, GUBI’s core philosophy has been to create timeless designs, with aesthetics, innovation, functionality and quality as guiding principles. GUBI’s many new designs are developed partly in cooperation with designers who have previously left their mark on GUBI products and partly in association with a number of new designers who, in turn, will add new stories to the GUBI saga.
