Lapuan Kankurit’s Aurora wool blanket is brought to life by a pattern designed by Akira Minagawa, featuring flowing, curtain-like stripes that echo the dancing movement of the Northern Lights. The two-tone design is reversible, with the colours inverted on the other side.

Wonderfully warm and cosy, the Aurora blanket is perfect as a throw for your bed or sofa – or for wrapping up on a cool evening outdoors. The wool blanket is woven at Lapuan Kankurit’s own mill in Finland using a blend of locally sourced Finnsheep wool and certified Wool Integrity NZ fibre. The blanket’s orange hue is dyed with a natural colour extracted from coffee.

The name Lapuan Kankurit means "Weavers of Lapua," reflecting the company's roots in the textile factory founded by Juho Annala in the town of Lapua in 1917. His grandson, Juha Hjelt, began working in the family’s weaving mill at the age of 15 and later established Lapuan Kankurit with his wife, Liisa, in 1973. Alongside creating high-quality designs, Lapuan Kankurit is dedicated to sustainable production, developing new textile innovations, and passing down the art of weaving to future generations.
