Aalto armchair 45, birch - natural webbing

Artek’s armchair 45 was designed by Alvar Aalto in the 1947. Armchair 45 was presented to the public for the first time at the Arkkitehtien Aino ja Alvar Aallon töitä vuosilta 1922–1947 exhibition, which was held in Helsinki Art Hall in 1947. Armchair 45 was one of Alvar Aalto's favorite chairs, and he also used it in his own architectural office.

Armchair 45 has a solid birch frame with an upholstery, giving it a soft, elegant character. Armchair 45 makes an excellent relaxing place in both private and public contexts. The clear, relaxed and functional appearance of the chair makes it a great fit also in modern interiors.

Alvar Aalto

Artek was founded in 1935 by four young idealists – Alvar and Aino Aalto, Nils-Gustav Hahl and Maire Gullichsen published a design manifesto inspired by functionalism, stating that Artek’s aim was “to sell furniture and to promote modern culture of habitation by exhibitions and other means”. Since its foundation, Artek has played in the intersection of design, architecture, and art, making Finnish design and Alvar Aalto's furniture known all over the world.
