Aalto stool E60, birch - Zebra

Stool E60, designed by Alvar Aalto in 1934, is one of the most iconic products of Finnish furniture design. The four-legged stool E60 was designed to complement the three-legged version designed a year earlier. During its history, several million pieces of Aalto's stools have been sold around the world.

The stool’s revolutionary L-leg structure was a sensation in the design world of its time, and it created a major boost for all the modern Scandinavian design. Alvar Aalto, together with carpenter Otto Korhonen, began experimenting with bending solid wood already in the late 1920s. The collaboration resulted in an L-leg, which became to be the standard component for Aalto’s furniture design and based on the invention also Y-leg and X-leg were later developed.
